In Guangdong, Cantonese opera is one of the local opera genres in Guangdong Province, but with the development of the times, the development of Cantonese opera began to gradually go downhill, and Cantonese opera gradually faded away in the new generation.
Through my research, I found that the core problem is the lack of teacher resources, and the lack of curriculum and standardized courses is one of the major reasons, so I designed a VR game to cultivate children's interest. This game not only allows children to experience the fun and culture of Cantonese opera, but more importantly, there is an intelligent teacher to correct your movements and pronunciation, so that users can start being exposed to the essence of Cantonese opera at a young age.
Location: Xiqiao No. 1 Primary School (Cantonese Opera characteristic creation base school)
----After analyzing the learning ability of the crowd, elementary school is a critical period for learning, so I decided to visit the local Cantonese opera school and hope to find insights from it.
----In addition to visiting local schools, I came to the Cantonese Opera Museum in Guangdong to read relevant documents and history, and found that gymnastics, makeup, clothes and singing are the easiest to learn, while acrobatics, musical instruments and stage art are not friendly to beginners.
----Through the user experience map of the game, it can better help everyone understand the gameplay of the game.
Kids are excited about consoles and novelties, identify with team-based games, and want to play similar games.
The game's visuals and character modeling do not meet the expectations of children, and the demo component is not enough. Children see the assets inside the game but do not understand the essence of the game in depth.
In thefuture, VR will be popularized among the general public. I believe thateveryone will have a VR device in the future, using online performances tospread Cantonese opera culture, and attract audiences' interest throughimmersive feeling and sci-fi special effects.
This project is an extension based on the local characteristic culture. I am a native of Foshan. Cantonese opera is our local characteristic culture. I hope that combining my knowledge can better help the inheritance of Cantonese opera. At the same time, I have adopted a strong visual language for this project. I hope Can strengthen the memory points of Cantonese opera.
Due to this one is a one-person project, and I am not an animation or engineer, I am not good at character modeling and action performance, and at the same time lack a certain code base, which is a regret that this project failed to express. In this project, I just tried the technology of VR, and tried to realize the cost and difficulty of the technology. I hope that I will meet like-minded people to realize this project together in the future.
